I have always had a “travel” gene deep within me, ever since I started going to all kinds of various school trips, excursions, and different events. It was all about the adrenaline and the unsettling urge to learn new things about other cultures and also meet new people. However, you don’t get many opportunities to meet new people through organized school trips, so I had to wait for a bit.
The time has come to put another mark on my map of visited places by paying a visit to Greece. Well, I can tell you it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, there’s no doubt about it. When I saw the landscape in Greece, I stood amazed. One cannot forget the breathtaking sights which stay engraved in your memory until the day you catch your last breath. This country is something I’ve never seen before, and I can assure you my list of places is pretty long.
The first thing I want to recommend to anyone who visits Greece is Meteora. It is a formation of stone pillars and hills, and they dominate the area. The shape of these stones is astonishing. Make sure you pay a visit to some of the monastery’s there; it will be a great learning experience. You can acquire some fresh knowledge about Greek culture.
Your next stop should be Thessaloniki. This city offers a unique experience filled with parks, archeological sites, festivals, cuisine, music, and more. It’s a combination of vital elements which make a city stand out from the rest. Well, Thessaloniki certainly has a good vibe and extremely positive people. The locals are friendly and helpful.
There’s almost no way to get lost for longer than a couple of minutes. Everyone is more than willing to help you with your issues, regardless of where are you coming from. Help from the locals comes as a refreshing surprise when you’re in need. I have been lost in other cities, and only a few of them had friendly locals like Thessaloniki. You will feel welcomed, and that’s going to help you have a good time. If you’re ever planning to visit Greece, this city is almost obligatory.
